An open letter to The Hindu Daily Newspaper

Hello Sir/Madam,

I am M **** Daimary and I belong from the Bodo kachari tribe from kokrajhar BTAD Assam I don’t know whom to address so I’m addressing in the name of The Hindu Daily newspaper.

Now first let me tell you something about The Bodos, The Bodos are an ethnic and linguistic aboriginal group of the Brahmaputra valley in the northeast part of India. The Bodos are recognized as a plains tribe in the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Historically the great Bodos were known as the Mech. Even today the Bodos living in West Bengal, Nagaland and Nepal are called Mech. The Bodos use the term Bodosa (which is pronounced as Borosa meaning son of Bodo) to describe themselves. The Bodosa is Sub clan of Dimasa people. In short we can understand Bodo/Boro people are originated from Dimasa people. Even though Bodos are demographically separated they follow the same culture, tradition, language and religion

  1. Its a shame on reporter and editor of news paper”The Hindu”. As charity begins at home, they don’t have begin at all . If a man from hindu does something wrong and if it has written as hindu man instead writing the name than how the hindu people will feel in the same way the bodo people will feel so never write on your news the entire community and religion for just your business.
And my suggestion to the news editor”please you have some lacking of knowledge then learn from the others”

  2. The news shows that whoever wrote the news has very less knowledge about the incident, the region and the people about whom he/she wrote .The first thing is it is not a communal attack. It was a terrorist attack.Secondly, the market is situated in the BTC area under Assam where bodo dominates and goes for marketing .Thirdly, the bodo people were also hurt and killed and the bodo shops were also burnt and damaged. Its not that the assamese or non-bodos people who went to the market only suffered but the bodos also equally suffered. So please stop to make it communal. And please before publishing a news make a thorough research of the incident and events instead of blindly publishing it.It’s a shame to read such a misleading article from a well known national newspaper.

  3. It was not at all expected atleast from “The Hindu”… Actually they are lacking the knowledges of the communities of NE….. Its very shameful…. Before publishing the news they could have discussed the matter with local representatives…
